About Metron Time Clock Company
Metron Time Clock Company is a developer of time and attendance solutions. Metron was founded in 1986 in Orange County, California by it's President, John Bethune.
Before the Internet, before Windows, even before Microsoft, Metron Time Clock Company was providing time and attendance software to government defense contractors and Fortune 500 companies on large mainframe systems. Their mission was the same then as it is today; to design and develop only top quality, affordable computerized time clock solutions that will accomodate any size company.
Metron's success is primarilly due to their ability to listen to their customers. The problems that customers were having with computerized time clocks included limited memory, which severly limited the number of employees that could punch on one clock, and the fact that the punches are precariously held in memory until they are collected, often being lost if there were an electrical, communication or hardware failure. What Metron Customers wanted was a computerized time clock solution that could handle large amounts of employees, validation tables (for Job Costing), and weeks of punch information. They asked for user-friendly software that was reliable and flexible in it's rules for rounding, overtime and deducting breaks. Reports had to be be comprehensive and easy to run and interfacing to Payroll had to be seamless.
Today Metron offers three time and attendance products to fill that niche for tens of thousands of growing companies. Metron's approach offers a choice of three software-only time clock solutions where the employees clock-in and out either on the Internet, at a networked PC or on a mechancal time clock. A solution like this means there is no expensive electronic time clocks to invest in or maintain. With a PC based time clock solution, there is no limit to the number of employees or validation tables and the employee punch information is stored securely on the PC's hard drive. Any PC that is on a LAN or connected to the Internet can be used as a time clock.
TimeCard Calc and PcClock are now also available through retail catalogs and office supply stores like Staples and Office Depot and Time-Windows is also sold as a "Private Label" time clock solution through many payroll service providers. In fact, you may receive your Metron software at a reduced price if a special edition for your payroll provider exists.
